JOB 2:10 "... SHALL WE ACCEPT THE GOOD FROM GOD AND NOT THE BAD?"
ONE family TRYING TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE IN ANY WAY POSSIBLE.
I love what Christmas is meant to be, but I am not a fan of what Christmas has become. I know this sounds like an old person remembering the "good ole days," but don't worry this post isn't about that. Instead I would like to share and expand a lesson from a devotional with you. In the Christmas story we can find a very interesting circumstance surrounding the birth of the Messiah. Almost everybody missed it. The people of Bethlehem were too busy getting prepared for the census to take notice. The inn keeper actually turned the expecting mother of the Son of God away because he had no room for them. The king during that day had no clue a new prince was going to be born that night. If a new prince were to be born in England the entire world would have known about him months in advance. But that night the world missed Him. We love to point out the mistakes and flaws of these biblical characters, but before we get too judgemental think about this... Are you ready for Jesus to come back? It's easy to point fingers at the ancient Israelites for their distractions and preoccupation, but recognizing our mistakes requires a little more effort. Sure the Jews had prophecy after prophecy concerning the coming of their Messiah, but we have more than a prophecy. We have Jesus's promise to us that He is coming again. I believe many times we lose sight of Jesus's second coming, and the way we live our lives shows it. During this Christmas season enjoy your family, enjoy giving and receiving gifts, enjoy telling the story of Jesus's birth and life, but always remember that Jesus is coming back. Don't let this coming of the Messiah catch you by surprise. Have a Merry Christmas
