James: Readings and the Thoughts that followed
James 1:2 ~ "Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds"
- Hard to do, but there is always something to grow you or others. Regardless of the situation. 5/9/18
James 1:9-11 ~ "9 Let the lowly brother boast in his exaltation, 10 and the rich in his humiliation, because like a flower of the grass he will pass away. 11 For the sun rises with its scorching heat and withers the grass; its flower falls, and its beauty perishes. So also will the rich man fade away in the midst of his pursuits."
James 2:10 ~ "For whoever keeps the whole law but fails in one point has become guilty of all of it."
- We don't seem many rich people boasting about humility, but then again we don't realize that if we are reading this from our home we are some of the richest people in the world.
- This verse is a good reminder of what happens to all the things we work so hard to obtain.
- Don't become so caught up in advancing at work and socioeconomic status that you lose sight of Jesus.
- Never lose sight of things that are eternal and things that are temporary.
James 2:10 ~ "For whoever keeps the whole law but fails in one point has become guilty of all of it."
- It is not enough to keep most of God's Laws, nor is it enough to be better at keeping His Law than most people.
- It doesn't even matter if you keep the "big" commands and only slip on the "small" ones.
- Once you break the smallest command of God, you are a Law breaker, in need of a Savior.

James 5:16 ~ "Therefore, confess your sins to one another and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person has great power as it is working."
- Throughout the Bible we are told, reminded and given examples of the power of prayer.
- Yet, many times we fail to use our greatest power.
- When in doubt, pray. When things are good, pray. When things are bad... pray.
- Pray without ceasing (1 Thessalonians 5:17) because the prayer of a righteous person has power. 4/5/18
