JOB 2:10 "... SHALL WE ACCEPT THE GOOD FROM GOD AND NOT THE BAD?"
ONE family TRYING TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE IN ANY WAY POSSIBLE.
Being a light in the world that is full of darkness is not limited to God alone, but the challenge is issued to us as well. Matthew 5:14, “You are the light of the world.” And Jesus is talking to you and me here, not God. You see, back in Genesis chapter 1 God not only made man, but made man in his image. We need to apply this truth to our lives so much more than we do. We hardly acknowledge that we are the image of God here on earth and we need to start living like it. We have been given the image of light to shine, just like He does. Acts 13:47, “…I have made you a light to the Gentiles, [non-Jews] that you may bring salvation to the ends of the earth.” Rom 13:12, “So let us cast off the works of darkness and put on the armor of light.” You see, we aren’t made to sit idle and wait on God to do everything for us, but to draw to God, see where He is at work, and dive in. We who are members of His churches have become too complacent and comfortable with where we are and what we’re doing… Or rather what we’re not doing. Too many people in our churches sit back, and hoping other people will come through. The church needs Christians that will step up and do what Jesus told us to. Let your light shine in a way that reflects Him, and this does not stop when we walk out of the church and go into our daily lives. Too many people have focused on Christianity being a religion, but it’s a lifestyle. Being a Christian requires a complete lifestyle change, where everything, not just Sundays, revolves around Jesus and what is going to benefit Him. Being lights in the world is a direct challenge from the only one who matters. For Christians this should be all we need. Jesus said it, let’s do it. Put away everything that is holding you back, and go forward as a light in this world... remember darkness can never overtake light, unless we turn the light off…

Genesis 1:2 says, “Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters.” In the beginning there was God and the earth was covered in darkness, then God says in verse 3, “Let there be light” and guess what, there was light. Earth was covered in darkness, but God showed up and provided light. But, could there be something here besides the literal creation story??? Most people if you ask them, “What’s the opposite of light?” They will probably respond with “dark.” The problem is darkness is not light’s opposite. Imagine being in a room that is completely dark. It would be fairly easy to add light to the room and make visibility better and you could add more and more light as needed. On the other hand, imagine being in a room that is completely full of light and you wanted the room to be dark. There is no way to add darkness to the room to overcome the light, it’s impossible. Darkness can only exist in the absence of light. Understanding this makes the comparison of God to light even better. We tend to have a picture of God versus Satan, where God is good and Satan is bad. Yes, God is good. Actually, He’s absolute good, and because He is absolute good Satan cannot be absolute evil. If Satan were able to be absolute evil then he would be God’s opposite and equal. God has the power to take whatever Satan does evil and turn it to good. That is absolute Good. Anything Satan does, God works it out for good. (Romans 8:28) Therefore God is absolute good and nobody is absolute evil while He is here, because darkness can only exist in the absence of The Light. Go through today knowing darkness cannot and will not over power the light… Francis Chan - Awe Factor |
