Day 26 - Prayer for the Nation

Scripture for Reflection and Preparation 

2 Timothy 2:1-2 “1 you, therefore, my child, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus. 2 and what you have heard from me in the presence of many witnesses, commit to faithful men who will be able to teach others also.” 

Psalm 133:1 “1 How good and pleasant it is when brothers can live together!” 

1 Peter 2:13-15 “13 Submit to every human institution because of the lord, whether to the emperor as the supreme authority, 14 or to governors as those sent out by him to punish those who do evil and to praise those who do good. 15 For it is God’s will that you, by doing good, silence the ignorance of foolish people.”

Prayer for the Nation 

God’s judgment or blessing on a nation is related directly to the morality of its citizens. 

Preparation

• Praise God for who He is 
• Confess your sinfulness and need for cleansing 
• Allow His Spirit to draw you near 
• Listen as He speaks to you 

Ask God to... 
• Send the strong convicting presence of His Spirit throughout the nation 
• Raise up leaders who will advance and support God-honoring policies 
• Help you know who He wants you to vote for in the upcoming election 
• Expose to public scrutiny people who are working to undermine God-honoring laws and morality 
• Convince Christians that they need to be involved in the life of the nation 
• Confound the plans of the enemies of the United States 
• Help the United States to be the world’s leader in promoting freedom for all people.

• Trust that God is at work to accomplish His will
