JOB 2:10 "... SHALL WE ACCEPT THE GOOD FROM GOD AND NOT THE BAD?"
ONE family TRYING TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE IN ANY WAY POSSIBLE.
If we continue a couple of verses after John 3:16 we come to these 2 verses that give us clear insight into today's American society... And this is the judgment: the light has come into the world, and people loved the darkness rather than the light because their works were evil. For everyone who does wicked things hates the light and does not come to the light, lest his works should be exposed. (John 3:19, 20 ESV) I don't know if it is the same for you, but my family on both sides are very devoted followers of Jesus. I believe this is one reason why I hear quite often from members of my family how shocked they are to hear some of the things that take place in the U.S. from elections and laws passed to awful crimes against people. I'm not quite as surprised. The Bible tells us over and over that people are evil. Why do we keep trying to act like we are good? Read the verse again... There is a reason people do not want to hear about Jesus and His teachings. People love darkness and their works are evil. Don't let the lost people of this world surprise you, Jesus tells us what they will do. What should surprise us are the people who profess to be Christians and continue in evil. If we claim to be followers of Jesus we have a higher standard... His.

Probably the most used verse from the Bible is John 3:16. Probably everybody reading this can quote it. But what about the verses that follow?
For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him. (John 3:17 ESV) If you share Jesus or ever have a discussion with a professing atheist, you will usually get some kind of answer like this, "Why would God send me to hell for not believing in His son?" And their statement is usually followed by "I don't want anything to do with a God like that." Here is where the verse that follows the most popular Bible scripture on earth comes to play. Read it again... Jesus was not sent here to condemn the world!!! Here's the thing, you and I are destined for eternity to hell FOR OUR SINS AGAINST THE LIVING GOD! Not because of Jesus. There was, is, and never will be anything that you and I can do to make up for our sins, but good news... Jesus can and DID! He is not the world's doom, but rather our Hope.. |
